Tara Goswami is a multidisciplinary artist, born 1983 in Shillong, India. She presently lives and works between India and Barcelona.

‘I believe that everything already exists, the artist is therefore not the creator, but the receptor and translator. I do believe in the role of the artist as a shaman, but this state is not a given constant, it comes in waves, as such the life’s work of the artist is to strive towards that clear state of receptivity. The art, is not just the end outcome, but the entire process of meditating, perceiving, receiving, translating and then executing the piece. A trust in the higher forces and allowing these forces to flow through oneself, as if we were mediums; and the inevitable life changing effect it has on the artist, having gone through the entire process. Never again can she go back to the state in which she existed before. In effect, the artist’s entire life is “a piece”.

But then again, maintaining oneself in this state of constance, is no easy task.. we constantly slip back to the self, from the Self. Between the ethereal and the worldly. Affected equally by the lighter and darker sides. This interaction between the two aspects of the Self generates interesting dialogue for me, jumping from micro to macro visions of existence. At once, basking in ambiguity and being perplexed by it.

I work with simple natural materials, my own body, simple repetitions of everyday actions, ritual, food, time… As I create a constant drone, I discover the subtler nuances of the apparently homogeneous sound. The best education one can have is an expansion of the consciousness. I see my work as lessons in self-education through Self-exploration. And hope this will pass on with a ripple effect to those around me…’

Continuamente resbalamos del Ser al ser. Entre lo etéreo y lo mundano;
entre los dos aspectos del sí-mismo genera un diálogo muy interesante para mi;
