“And most importantly, release your heart.” – Tara Goswami
I had the wonderful opportunity to know Tara Goswami in person when I lived in India. Her teachings are one of a kind. She did several teacher trainings, but not only does she have profound knowledge about alignment, asana, pranayama and meditation, she also knows how to communicate it and pass it forward to you in a comprehensible and supportive manner. Tara takes good care of the different needs one might have and guides with heart, knowledge, firmness, humor and enormous kindness.
Her non-judgmental approach, her insistence on staying in the present moment, her encouragement to trust one’s inner potential and her subtle way of reminding that we are part of the “whole” and “divine” keeps doing its beneficial work even off the mat.
She always insists on the accurate techniques of each posture. Eventually, her focus is on bringing the individual to “experience” the posture and to realize through the body that one is much more than the body.
Tara unites all the qualities of a self-reflected Yogini. She represents the subtle divinity one can hardly find in yoga classes “over here” in Europe: She does not only “intellectualize” the “principal” of Shakti- or Shiva-energy, but she transpires it through her very being, her own teaching, practice and process as an creative artist.

Tara is an amazing teacher! Practising with her inspires a deep sense of discipline and reverence within me. Her attention to detail is great and her instructions (even the smallest adjustments) are very clear and purposeful. Having practiced and studied yoga across multiple countries with many teachers, I truly feel she teaches Hatha yoga in its purest and most authentic form. I love the emphasis on chants, breathing and meditative relaxation and always feel energised at the end of class.

My experience with Tara Goswami
I have two people to thank.
One ,the most amazing teacher Tara Goswami and secondly my dear cousin Sasha who pushed me to go for the practice.
“Only in pain did I find my will
Only in my chaos did I learn to be still
Only in my fear did I find my might
Only in darkness did I find my light”
True to these words Tara! Through your teaching you have made me believe in myself again, in my strength, in my endurance, in my patience, and in my sense of belonging. You are a wonderful teacher giving each of us the individual care through our practices.
Thank you once again for helping me grow.

On my journey of recovery from fibromyalgia, I was first guided by the Universe to the AtmaVikasa Yoga Centre of Yogic Sciences in Mysore in 2019. But my desire to re-visit the Centre had to be put on hold due to Covid. It is then, in my yearning for continuing the practice as Acharya had introduced in my life, that I discovered Tara’s online classes. I joined her on this path in December 2020 and from then to now, continue to look forward to geting on the mat under her watchful (video) eye every single day. 🙂
Tara is a “no-nonsense” practitioner and teacher of Yoga. She is devoted to sharing her knowledge and be there to guide you every day, all 5 days of the week, as long as you are committed to be there too.
She is firm yet compassionate. She pushes for more but is always patient. She has a plan but is always willing to move it around in response to what she feels your body needs that day. She listens, watches, corrects and connects with every person even in a group class.
Tara is one of the rare teachers who have made me feel that she is not in it for the money. Yes there is a charge for the class but the commitment in return is for giving her all, with all earnestness to help you grow and support you through the journey no matter how long it takes.
Blessed to have her in my life, truly grateful to the Universe for guiding me to her.

This is Tara Goswami, my yoga teacher. Since I started being her student, my body and spirit gained an incredible benefit, from the strength, focused mind set and flexibility that Tara is teaching in her sessions. She is very talented and caring, that I am 100% sure she can see when I am not doing my best. And she gently says how I should position my limbs or my back, or my breathing in order to achieve the aim of a particular exercise. Before I joined Tara’s yoga training I had followed group classes and very basic ones. So, I was not at all yoga trained student. I feel I can say that I have been progressing under Tara’s yoga classes. She is really a force of nature and an inspiration. Thank you Tara!

“Tara is an exceptional yoga teacher. Kind, compassionate and warm, yet always pushing you further and correcting you when necessary. In every single one of her classes she transmits her deep love and reverence towards the practice, and ultimately and most important, towards the sacredness inside each of us. I’ve learnt to remain still in the pose, watching what comes up in my mind in the process. Her yoga classes are so much more than a physical practice. Tara is a true yogini.”

Tara Goswami: Your yoga guru
Teaching the intense form of yoga, Hatha Yoga, she literally is the ‘force’ in everything that this Sanskrit word ‘ Hatha’ means. Well Composed herself, she instills the true ideology and concept to the trainees. Prior to meeting Tara, my journey, practicing ‘Hatha’ yoga started following a 2 months basic course. This formed the base of my almost daily routine for the past 2 years. Self learning new asanas (social media guided)now and then. I then joined her basic course for 4 weeks. These 4 weeks transformed they way I now approach my practice. I am more methodical and precise with each segment of every asana. The meditations bring you to focus and helps gain control of your body. We are taught to see ourselves ( eyes closed) inwardly. There is a sort of relationship you develop with each asana with every synchronised breath. Tara, in such a short span, has helped me make my basic yoga more advance. This builds a strong foundation.

I’ve been learning yoga from Tara for three months now and it’s one of my most cherished experiences. I always look forward to the class and the way Tara teaches different forms of asanas and other practices such as pranayama. One of the best things about the class is that we focus on all aspects of the practice- mind, body and soul. For me, this was very important as I wanted to learn yoga in the traditional approach that encompasses all these different factors. Another thing I really appreciate is that Tara also always mentions the importance of what we’re doing, in addition to showing us how the physical aspect of the practice works. I always feel rejuvenated after my classes with her and even look forward to practicing on my own. Tara’s been practicing yoga for over 12 years now and it really shows in how she instructs us, as she notices even the smallest details in all our postures. Overall, can’t get enough, love these classes!

I’m an absolute beginner and was unsure if starting with online classes was a good idea — would the teacher be able to see what I was doing well enough to guide me when we are all reduced to small rectangles on a screen? One and a half months in, I’m still surprised at how keenly Tara observes and corrects every movement. Her directions are clear and she is patient, pushing you just enough to stretch your limits a little bit every day. I can already feel some improvement in my weak back which is what sent me down a hunt for yoga classes. Thank you Tara!

Tara and I come from the same town in North East India. It was in 2015 that I asked her if there were any asana’s that could help with my varicose veins. One class with her and I was hooked. It was then that my yoga journey began. My body responded so well to it, like I was missing something my whole life! Tara has a way of teaching that is firm but gentle at the same time, knowing when to push and when to ease. Taking time to attend to each person with our different needs. My favourite part is her guided shavasana. An artist, yogini, and my friend, I knew I was in good hands. I am forever grateful to her, for in it I have found light and peace of mind.

“I attended Tara’s 4 week beginner program in November 2021 and her classes were a bit of an eye opener for someone like me who was new to yoga. She takes a holistic approach to yoga which involves understanding of this art form, breathing techniques and mudras. The physical intensity and difficulty of the poses increased steadily to keep you motivated to get better every day. My state of mind after every class was very calm but awake, and I would recommend that you try it for its intended duration. Am thankful to her for letting me be a part of her class and sharing her passion.”
